Richard Whiting (1891-1938) was born in Peoria, Illinois to Frank and Blossom Whiting. He was a composer, often collaborating with Johnny Mercer. He was known for songs such as “Hooray for Hollywood.”

Collection consists of sheet music, arrangements, and newspaper clippings and programs related to Margaret Whiting. Includes some published copies of Richard Whiting’s compositions. Includes Richard Whiting’s Steinway piano.

The sheet music, folios, photos, and awards belonging to Margaret Whiting were accumulated over a long performance career. The 1915 Steinway grand piano was purchased by Richard Whiting who later passed it down to his daughter Margaret.
